Infrastructure and Institutional Services

Α. Infrastructure

The Program is housed at the University of the Peloponnese in Patra and provides appropriate educational and support infrastructure to meet its students’ educational needs. At the same time, it seeks to use every available funding source to upgrade and modernize its infrastructure continuously. The Program uses shared teaching classrooms with the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering of the University of the Peloponnese. It also jointly uses fully equipped laboratory spaces for student training and free use in relevant courses, as well as for the preparation of diploma theses.

Β. Institutional Services

Postgraduate students of the Program have access to a range of supporting institutional services, the main ones being the following:

Library and Information Center

At the University of the Peloponnese, a unified Library operates as an independent and decentralized service at the Directorate level, titled “Library and Information Center” (LIC) of the University of the Peloponnese (https://library.uop.gr/). It serves as a hub for collecting and disseminating information. The LIC oversees all library and informational material, electronic equipment, and support tools acquired or donated to the University. Its primary mission is to develop and maintain collections of books, scientific journals, and audiovisual material of all types to support the educational and research needs of the academic community.

Student Dining

Postgraduate students who meet specific criteria are entitled to free or subsidized meals. Dining is available at the Student Residence Restaurant on campus upon presentation of a special ID. Applications and required documents are submitted electronically through a dedicated platform (https://sitisi.uop.gr) using the student’s institutional account.

Student Ombudsman

The Student Ombudsman (https://synigoros.uop.gr/) acts as a mediator exclusively between students of the University of the Peloponnese and faculty members or administrative services. The aim is: (a) to ensure legality within the framework of academic freedom, and (b) to address cases of maladministration and safeguard the proper functioning of the institution. The Ombudsman does not have authority over exam or grading matters. They investigate cases either on their own initiative or following a student complaint and mediate with the relevant institutional bodies to resolve them. They may request information, documents, or other evidence; examine individuals; conduct inspections; and commission expert reports. If irregularities or maladministration are identified, a report is issued and communicated to the relevant parties, with mediation efforts to resolve the issue.

Student Counseling and Psychological Support Structure

The Student Counseling and Psychological Support Unit (WeCare – https://wecare.uop.gr/) is a relatively new institutional service providing: counseling and psychological support, especially for students from vulnerable social groups, social counseling, recording and monitoring of student requests and issues, individual or group counseling for students facing temporary personal, developmental, or adjustment difficulties, support services that help students develop their academic and personal skills, support for students with special educational needs.

Career Services

The University of the Peloponnese operates a Career Office (https://career.uop.gr/) to support graduates in their professional development. Its purpose is to provide guidance and information to students and alums on: postgraduate studies, scholarships, career planning, CV and cover letter preparation, and interview preparation.

Gender Equality Committee

The Gender Equality Committee (https://isotita.uop.gr/) is an advisory body of the institution and its administration. Its mission is to promote gender equality and combat discrimination based on gender, racial or ethnic origin, religion or beliefs, health/disability status, age, or sexual orientation across all levels, processes, and activities of academic life.

Electronic Secretariat

The electronic secretariat (https://unistudent.uop.gr) is a digital service that allows students to complete many transactions with the administrative office without being physically present. Indicative services include course registration and grade access.

E-learning Platform

The e-Class platform (https://eclass.uop.gr/) is provided to help students stay informed about their courses. It offers access to educational material, presentations, exercises, examples, and course announcements.

Email

All students receive an institutional email address upon enrollment, which they can manage online.

Academic Identity

All students can apply electronically to receive a digital Academic ID with strong durability and anti-counterfeiting features. Additional services can be integrated into the ID beyond the student transport pass.

Wireless Roaming Access

Students and staff are provided access to the Eduroam wireless network using their institutional credentials. The service is also available to members of other educational institutions participating in the Eduroam federation when visiting the university.
